Digital Agriculture Associate

About the role

Precision Development (PxD) is looking for a Digital Agriculture Associate to join its high‑performing, flexible team in Addis Ababa. The role focuses on designing, implementing and refining digital agriculture services that combine technology, data and behavioural insights to help smallholder farmers improve their incomes and well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design, development, enhancement and deployment of digital advisory services across mobile apps, SMS, IVR and other platforms, ensuring they are user‑centred and evidence‑informed.
• Conduct user needs assessments, product evaluations, field visits and stakeholder consultations with farmers, extension agents, developers and partners to gather feedback, validate requirements and test solutions in real‑world settings.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, user workflows, standard operating procedures and implementation guidelines to facilitate effective deployment and knowledge transfer.
• Evaluate digital agriculture platforms for API maturity and integration readiness, and provide recommendations to improve interoperability, system connectivity and data‑sharing across the digital agriculture ecosystem.

Required profile

• Passionate about PxD’s mission to deliver actionable, cost‑effective digital information to smallholder farmers in low‑ and middle‑income countries.
• Strong interest in agricultural development, digital services and evidence‑based solutions.

Required skills

• Experience with mobile‑based digital platforms (e.g., SMS, IVR, mobile applications).
• Familiarity with API evaluation and integration concepts.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
