Disaster Risk Management Advisor – Ethiopia

About the role

The Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Advisor is a senior strategic leadership position within People in Need’s Ethiopia programme. Based in Addis Ababa, the role shapes and advances the organisation’s DRM, Early Warning System (EWS) and Anticipatory Action (AA) agenda, ensuring alignment with national priorities and donor strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for PIN Ethiopia’s DRM, EWS and AA portfolio, ensuring relevance, coherence and impact.
• Position PIN as a credible actor within Ethiopia’s DRM ecosystem, engaging with national systems, donors and partners.
• Represent PIN in EDRMC’s technical working groups on EWS and AA and other relevant forums.
• Support the Country Director in strategic planning, partnership building and donor representation.
• Lead development of project proposals and oversee implementation of DRM‑related programmes.
• Ensure quality, compliance and alignment of DRM activities with PIN’s global framework and policies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in disaster risk management, early warning systems and anticipatory action, preferably in humanitarian contexts.
• Proven senior‑level strategic leadership and sector engagement skills.
• Strong ability to work with national authorities, donors, NGOs and multilateral partners.
• Excellent communication and representation skills at high‑level forums.
