Finance Director – Strategic Leadership

About the role

The Finance Director will provide strategic direction and leadership for the Finance Directorate of Africa CDC, supporting the organization’s mission to strengthen public health across the continent. Reporting to the Director General, the role is based in Addis Ababa and is responsible for aligning financial policies with the Africa CDC strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall financial strategy for the directorate, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals.
• Oversee budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting for all divisions and units.
• Ensure compliance with African Union financial policies and monitor spending against approved budgets.
• Lead a team of direct and indirect reports, managing performance and professional development.
• Provide strategic financial leadership for the African Epidemic Fund and other special accounts, including governance and disbursement mechanisms.
• Design innovative financing solutions such as blended finance instruments and risk‑sharing mechanisms.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks to protect the organization’s assets.

Required profile

• Citizenship of an African Union Member State.
• Proven senior finance leadership experience in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
