Food Security and Livelihood Officer

About the role

The Food Security and Livelihood Officer will lead the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Save the Children’s food security and livelihoods (FSL) project in assigned woredas. The role ensures that beneficiary selection, cash distribution and data collection are carried out according to programme standards and that community feedback is addressed promptly.

Key responsibilities

• Implement day‑to‑day FSL activities, including beneficiary selection, cash distribution and price monitoring.
• Coordinate with local government, line ministries, community facilitators and implementing partners to plan and execute project activities.
• Provide regular progress reports and updates to the Program Manager and ensure accurate documentation of beneficiary lists and distribution data.
• Train data collectors on PDM tools and price monitoring tools, and verify the quality of collected information.
• Organise community sensitisation meetings on project modalities and child‑rights integration.
• Support the planning of field logistics, finance and MEAL components for effective programme delivery.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in implementing food security and livelihoods programmes.
• Familiarity with beneficiary targeting processes and community feedback mechanisms.
• Ability to work closely with local authorities, NGOs and community groups.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PDM (Post‑Distribution Monitoring) tools.
• Experience using price monitoring tools.
