Food Security and Livelihood Officer

About the role

The Food Security and Livelihood Officer will lead the day‑to‑day implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Save the Children’s food security and livelihoods (FSL) programme in assigned woredas. The role ensures that beneficiary selection, community feedback and cash distribution processes are carried out effectively and in line with programme standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, follow up, monitor and evaluate FSL activities, securing accountability for results.
• Coordinate with community facilitators, local government ministries and partners to plan and execute activities.
• Ensure correct beneficiary selection procedures and criteria are applied.
• Collect, share and respond to beneficiary feedback, escalating issues when needed.
• Support community facilitators in daily planning and coordinate cash distribution logistics.
• Communicate project details, distribution dates and verification conditions to beneficiaries.
• Train data collectors on PDM and price‑monitoring tools and verify data quality.
• Prepare regular progress reports, monthly and quarterly monitoring plans, and annual project reports.
• Integrate child‑rights considerations into all programme actions.
• Organise community sensitisation meetings on project purpose and modalities.
• Maintain accurate beneficiary and distribution documentation.
• Lead beneficiary selection processes and provide technical support to implementing partners.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in food security, livelihoods or humanitarian programming.
• Knowledge of beneficiary selection, monitoring & evaluation and cash‑based assistance.
• Ability to work closely with local authorities, community groups and implementing partners.
• Strong reporting skills and familiarity with child‑rights frameworks.
