Government Relations Coordinator – Africa

About the role

The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) is seeking a Government Relations Coordinator for Africa. Working remotely from Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa or Uganda, you will be the primary liaison between IGF and its African member governments, supporting technical assistance, capacity‑building and strategic partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to engage, re‑engage and expand IGF membership across Africa.
• Build and maintain relationships with member governments, focal points, regional organisations and development partners.
• Coordinate government requests for technical assistance and facilitate communication with IGF technical teams.
• Organise African participation in the Annual General Meeting, Executive Committee activities, regional events and bilateral meetings.
• Prepare briefing notes, engagement reports, country profiles and regional analyses.
• Support fundraising, donor engagement and represent IGF at regional and international conferences.

Required profile

• Residency with a valid work permit in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa or Uganda.
• Experience in government engagement, policy coordination or international development.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to produce high‑quality reports and briefing materials.
