About the role
The Human Resources Assistant (G6) provides experienced‑level support in the administration of staff benefits and entitlements for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Working within the Human Resources Management Section, the incumbent applies established UN HR rules and procedures to a wide range of cases, ensuring accurate and timely service delivery to staff.
Key responsibilities
- Process personnel actions, including appointments, promotions, and terminations, in accordance with UN staff regulations.
- Maintain and update HR records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Provide guidance to staff on HR procedures, benefits, and entitlements.
- Support the administration of staff benefits, such as health insurance, pension, and leave management.
- Collaborate with other HR units to ensure consistent application of policies across the organization.
Required profile
- University degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Relevant experience in HR administration, preferably within an international or multilateral organization.
- Knowledge of UN staff rules, regulations, and benefit schemes.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Fluency in English; additional UN language proficiency is an asset.
