Peacebuilding Officer

About the role

The Peacebuilding Officer will support Danish Refugee Council’s programmes in eastern Ethiopia, focusing on Jigjiga, Dire Dawa and Togochale. The role involves designing and implementing activities that promote conflict resolution, reconciliation and social cohesion along the migration route.

Key responsibilities

• Support the peacebuilding component of projects, overseeing activities, budgets and reporting.
• Conduct participatory conflict and conflict‑sensitivity analyses through community consultations to identify drivers of instability.
• Establish and train peacebuilding committees that include women, youth, IDPs, returnees and host communities.
• Provide capacity‑building to CSOs and local change‑makers on negotiation, mediation and non‑violent conflict resolution.
• Facilitate community peace‑building dialogue forums at local and regional levels.
• Coordinate with authorities, security providers and other organisations to avoid duplication of efforts.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on project implementation, including data collection, form maintenance and success‑story production.
