Protection-MHPSS Assistant

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Protection-MHPSS Assistant to implement an integrated protection and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) program in Bambasi Woreda IDP sites. The role focuses on prevention and response activities, working directly with women, children, people with mental health conditions, and persons with disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assess living conditions of vulnerable groups in IDP community centers and help develop response strategies.
• Facilitate participation of women and children in safe spaces and MHPSS activities, documenting progress.
• Conduct mental health awareness, psycho‑education, and psychosocial support sessions.
• Support community leaders and government focal points in monitoring, verifying, and documenting MHPSS, child protection (CP), and gender‑based violence (GBV) cases.
• Prepare and implement case action plans, conduct home‑to‑home visits and outreach.
• Enter data into the CP/GBVIMS database and assist with case management coordination.
• Organize and lead protection‑MHPSS awareness sessions and activities in women and girls’ safe spaces.
• Adhere to GBV code of conduct, MHPSS principles, and IRC safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Experience working with IDP communities, protection, and psychosocial support programs.
• Ability to facilitate community engagement and conduct outreach activities.
• Knowledge of GBV, child protection, and mental health best practices.
• Commitment to IRC values, safeguarding standards, and inclusive team dynamics.

Required skills

• Data entry into case management databases.
• Case management coordination for MHPSS, CP, and GBV.
