Protection Officer – Protection Case Management

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Officer specialized in Protection Case Management to join its Addis Ababa office. Working under the Protection Project Manager, the officer will deliver case‑management services to people on the move, ensuring they receive timely and comprehensive protection support in line with international standards and DRC SOPs.

Key responsibilities

• Implement protection case‑management activities according to global protection cluster guidelines and DRC SOPs.
• Identify, assess, plan, intervene and follow‑up on cases for vulnerable beneficiaries.
• Conduct regular service mapping and maintain functional referral pathways in Addis Ababa and migration hotspots such as Dire Dawa, Jigjiga and Togochale.
• Coordinate with health, MHPSS, legal and other service providers to ensure access to essential services for people at risk of trafficking or other protection violations.
• Facilitate cross‑border case management and conduct case conferences with migration actors for complex cases.
• Manage Cash for Protection (C4P) to enable life‑saving assistance for individuals facing imminent risks.
• Prepare and share weekly, bi‑weekly and monthly reports with supervisors and technical teams.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in protection case management for migrants or displaced persons.
• Proven ability to conduct service mapping and coordinate multi‑sectoral referrals.
• Experience working with UN agencies, INGOs, local CSOs and national partnership coalitions.
• Strong understanding of rights‑based approaches and protection standards.
