About the role
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to provide experienced-level support in staff benefits and entitlements administration. The role involves processing personnel actions, maintaining records, and guiding staff on HR procedures to ensure accurate and timely service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct onboarding of new hires, issue Letters of Appointment, and monitor contract expirations.
- Process temporary and permanent staff movements, inter‑agency agreements, and off‑boarding actions.
- Assist staff with benefits, insurance, and separation documentation, reviewing submissions for completeness.
- Review reports and records to process staff benefits and entitlements, including dependent allowances.
- Respond to queries on staff entitlements and provide guidance based on established policies.
- Process travel requests (home leave, family visits, education grants) and approve time‑and‑attendance requests such as parental, sick, and special leave.
Required profile
- Experience in HR administration within an international or public‑sector environment.
- Familiarity with UN HR rules, procedures, and personnel action processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate staff records.
- Excellent communication skills to guide staff on benefits and entitlements.
