Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Maintenance Manager will ensure optimal performance and reliability of all factory machinery and equipment at JTI’s Addis Ababa plant. Reporting to the Production Manager, the role leads the planning, execution and continuous improvement of preventive and corrective maintenance to maximise production efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and execute all maintenance activities for primary, make and pack production equipment.
• Ensure maximum machinery uptime through preventive and corrective maintenance programmes.
• Manage installation, repair and servicing of equipment, coordinating with external service providers as needed.
• Lead, develop and motivate the maintenance team, fostering high performance and capability growth.
• Implement maintenance planning systems and utilise manufacturing tools to improve operations.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety and regulatory standards across all maintenance work.
• Monitor performance against KPIs and global maintenance standards.
• Support recruitment, training, performance management and motivation of maintenance staff.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing processes.

Required profile

• BSc in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with automated machinery.
• Proven leadership and team‑management capabilities.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety standards.
• Advanced English proficiency and strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
