Junior Mechanical Engineer – Mining Operations

About the role

Mota-Engil is looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support high‑priority mining operations in the Benishangul‑Gumuz region. The role focuses on the management, maintenance, and optimisation of a diverse fleet ranging from light vehicles to heavy‑duty mining machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning preventative maintenance schedules for the fleet.
• Track fleet reliability metrics and report findings.
• Organise workshop repair schedules and coordinate with technicians.
• Support the implementation of maintenance strategies and planning processes.

Required profile

• 0‑2 years of professional experience (recent graduates encouraged).
• Current resident of Ethiopia with willingness to work on‑site in the Benishangul‑Gumuz region.
• Full bilingual proficiency in Amharic and English.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Required skills

• Understanding of basic mechanical systems, pumps, combustion engines, gearboxes, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Knowledge of machine elements such as shafts, bearings, belts, seals and power transmission systems and their failure modes.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
• Familiarity with maintenance planning and scheduling processes.
• Experience with CAD software and maintenance management systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
