Mobile Health & Nutrition Officer

About the role

The Mobile Health & Nutrition Officer will strengthen preparedness and resilience of the nutrition sector in Mustahil (Fer‑Fer) by supporting anticipatory actions and emergency response. The role focuses on community‑based nutrition interventions, infant and young child feeding in emergencies, and building capacity of local health facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Woreda Health Office and Primary Health Care Units (PHCUs) in planning and implementing anticipatory health and nutrition activities.
• Coordinate the health‑nutrition response team, ensuring timely liaison with PHCU directors.
• Provide project materials and technical support to PHCUs during service delivery.
• Establish and lead an effective anticipatory health and nutrition team in the assigned woreda.
• Conduct multi‑sectoral rapid assessments, collect and analyse data as needed.
• Advocate and represent project deliverables and outcomes with local stakeholders.
• Ensure quality of maternal and child health services in health facilities according to guidelines.
• Strengthen surveillance systems and set up/maintain rapid response teams, collaborating with WaSH and livelihood sectors.

Required profile

• Experience in community‑based health and nutrition programmes, especially in emergency or humanitarian contexts.
• Proven ability to coordinate multi‑sectoral teams and conduct rapid assessments.
• Knowledge of maternal and child health guidelines, IYCF‑E and SBCC interventions.
• Strong communication skills for advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
