Nutrition Consultant – Office-based with Travel (Addis Ababa)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Nutrition Consultant to support its nutrition programmes in Ethiopia. The role is office‑based in Addis Ababa with regular travel to project sites and partners. You will work under the Nutrition Manager to strengthen nutrition planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting across humanitarian and development contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and monitor nutrition programmes, ensuring alignment with UNICEF strategies.
• Support resource mobilisation and strengthen nutrition information and reporting systems.
• Provide technical assistance for nutrition assessments, surveys, formative research and operational learning studies.
• Contribute to emergency preparedness and nutrition response in humanitarian actions.
• Facilitate capacity‑strengthening, coordination and partnership building with stakeholders.
• Promote nutrition systems strengthening, sustainability and scale‑up of interventions.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Nutrition, Public Health, Nutritional Epidemiology or related health science.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in a developing country on nutrition, public health, nutrition planning/management or maternal‑infant‑child nutrition.
• Experience in advocacy, strategic engagement and multi‑sector nutrition programming is an asset.
• Strong communication, report writing and analytical abilities.
• Familiarity with emergency operations.
• Fluency in English and Amharic.
