Utilities Operator

About the role

The Utilities Operator ensures reliable operation and supply of essential utilities such as water, steam, CO₂ recovery and compressed air for production. Working on‑site in Harar, the role supports safety, sanitation and quality standards while responding to operational needs from the supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and control pumps, fans, compressors and other utilities equipment to maintain uninterrupted supply.
• Report unsafe behaviors, conditions and near‑misses; lead investigations of high‑potential incidents.
• Execute regular cleaning, sanitation and HACCP‑compliant procedures to prevent contamination.
• Perform routine technical checks including vibration monitoring, pressure checks, blow‑downs and lubrication.
• Calibrate and verify inline measuring instruments.
• Collect and register energy, water and other utilities consumption data.
• Manage work permits, standby equipment readiness and installation handovers.
• Support minor repairs, breakdown recovery and creation of work orders with proper documentation.
• Participate in safety training, ORR risk‑reduction activities and continuous improvement initiatives (BDA, RCFA).

Required profile

• Strong focus on safety and ability to follow local, national and international safety regulations.
• Understanding of food‑safety standards, especially HACCP.
• Ability to work collaboratively with maintenance, production and other departments.
• Proactive attitude toward sanitation, hygiene and operational risk reduction.

Required skills
