MEAL Coordinator – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning

About the role

Under the direct supervision of the Field Office Manager, the MEAL Coordinator will provide comprehensive support to all programmes implemented through the Bale Field Office, ensuring that Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning activities are delivered with quality, consistency and accountability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a work plan to roll out the MEAL system at programme and field‑office levels.
• Provide technical support to programme staff on designing and implementing M&E plans.
• Assist staff in collecting high‑quality monitoring data, collating it and preparing regular reports.
• Collaborate with the central MEAL team, CO TAs and SAO MEAL functions to design standardised monitoring tools and methodologies.
• Deliver capacity‑building sessions for programme and partner staff on MEAL tools and approaches.
• Generate regular monitoring reports and communicate findings to relevant units.
• Conduct qualitative M&E using participatory and child‑friendly methods.
• Support surveys, baselines, evaluations, joint project monitoring and learning workshops.
• Implement accountability activities, including developing information materials and managing a pilot complaints response mechanism.
• Provide inductions on MEAL for new staff and support the Accountability Assistant.

Required profile

• Degree in social sciences, international development, public health or a related field.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation within humanitarian or development programmes.
• Experience working with child‑focused programmes and knowledge of Save the Children MEAL framework.
• Ability to work in Ethiopia and travel locally as required.
