Operations Officer (NO-1) – Fixed Term – Semera, Ethiopia

About the role

The Operations Officer (NO-1) will lead UNICEF Ethiopia’s operational functions in Semera on a fixed‑term basis. The role ensures that people, processes and resources are aligned to deliver high‑impact programmes for children in complex humanitarian contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Implement people‑resources strategies to build a competent, agile workforce and promote staff well‑being.
• Facilitate management excellence, inclusion and accessibility through policies and procedures.
• Provide risk‑informed analysis, advice and solutions to support programme and management decision‑making.
• Champion value‑for‑money principles and strategic resource utilisation across the office.
• Support training strategies and share best practices in management and finance.
• Contribute to UNICEF’s five strategic pillars of operational excellence.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., public administration, business, humanitarian studies).
• Proven experience in operations, administration or finance within a humanitarian or development setting.
• Strong understanding of UNICEF policies, standards and procedures.
• Ability to work in complex, emergency‑prone environments and deliver results under pressure.
• Excellent analytical, advisory and communication skills.
