Power System Technician

About the role

Ethio telecom is seeking a full‑time Power System Technician to join its Holeta Genet site. The role focuses on installing, operating and maintaining power and backup equipment that underpins the telecom network, ensuring continuous service and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and monitor performance of generators, rectifiers, UPS units, batteries and related power distribution equipment.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance to minimise downtime and extend equipment life.
• Diagnose faults, respond to power‑related incidents and provide timely technical support to engineering and field teams.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, incident records and documentation using basic computer tools.
• Support safety initiatives and energy‑efficiency projects at the site.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Electronics or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience with maintenance and repair of generators, rectifiers, UPS systems and batteries.
• Strong troubleshooting ability for power system faults.
• Experience delivering or receiving technical training and willingness to share knowledge.
• Familiarity with telecom power systems, safety standards and relevant electrical codes.
• Ability to work on‑site in Holeta Genet, including occasional after‑hours or weekend shifts.
