Social Behavioural Change Officer – Immunization Program

About the role

The Social Behavioural Change (SBC) Officer will support Save the Children’s GSK‑funded immunization programme in Ethiopia. Working at the field and woreda levels, the officer will help generate community demand for vaccination and address sociocultural and gender barriers that limit coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate and monitor SBC interventions aimed at increasing immunisation uptake.
• Conduct assessments to identify sociocultural, gender‑related and other barriers to vaccination.
• Collaborate with the Country Office, Field Offices and government partners to align SBC activities with national community mobilisation strategies.
• Provide technical assistance to regional, zonal and woreda authorities on SBC approaches.
• Strengthen the capacity of field project staff through training and mentorship on demand‑generation techniques.
• Prepare regular reports on SBC activities, outcomes and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in public health, social sciences, communication or a related field.
• Experience working on social and behavioural change initiatives, preferably within immunisation or child health programmes.
• Understanding of gender dynamics and sociocultural factors affecting health behaviours.
• Ability to work in remote field settings and engage with diverse community stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
