Accountability Officer

About the role

The Accountability Officer will lead the implementation of community feedback and response mechanisms to ensure transparent, inclusive, and community‑centered project delivery. This role supports integration of humanitarian standards, safeguards, and inclusive programming while building capacity of staff and community structures.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and monitor feedback and complaint channels, recording data through the digital accountability platform (DAP).
• Provide technical guidance on accountability frameworks and ensure they are integrated into program activities.
• Facilitate timely information sharing with communities about project objectives, beneficiary selection, entitlements, and available services.
• Conduct monitoring and supervision of targeting, distributions, and service delivery to verify that feedback mechanisms are functional and inclusive.
• Identify and refer sensitive complaints (safeguarding, PSEA, fraud, child protection) through established referral pathways.

Required profile

• University degree in sociology, social work, social science, monitoring & data management or a related field.
• 2‑3 years field‑based experience with Accountability and MEAL activities in emergency contexts, including work with bilateral and multilateral donors.
• Proven experience establishing a functional accountability system serving over 100,000 beneficiaries within 12 months.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mobile data collection tools such as Kobo, CommCare, and ODK Collect.
• Experience designing and leading mixed‑methodology surveys, from design to reporting.
• Good understanding of USG donor regulations, World Vision, Sphere standards, and Red Cross/NGO Code of Conduct.
