Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Officer

About the role

ethiotelecom, a leading Ethiopian telecommunications service provider, is hiring a full-time, on-site Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Officer in Adis Zemen. The officer monitors transactions, customer activity and internal processes to spot potential money laundering and sanction-related risks, and helps strengthen internal controls and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor transactions, customer activities and internal processes to identify money laundering and sanction risks.
• Conduct due diligence reviews and investigate suspicious activities.
• Prepare reports and ensure compliance with AML, counter-terrorist financing and sanction regulations.
• Collaborate with finance, legal and operational teams and guide them on AML policies.
• Support internal training on compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in law, finance, accounting, business or a related discipline preferred.
• Experience in due diligence, including customer onboarding checks and ongoing monitoring.
• Relevant experience in AML, compliance, risk management or a related field in financial services or telecommunications is beneficial.
• Attention to detail, ethical judgment, confidentiality and the ability to work collaboratively on site in Adis Zemen.

Required skills

• Analytical skills to review transaction data, detect patterns and assess risk.
• Knowledge of sanction regimes and regulatory frameworks.
• Foundational understanding of finance, including financial products, services and transaction flows.
• Effective communication to write clear reports and support regulatory inquiries.
• Familiarity with AML software tools and international best practices is an advantage.
