Section Head - General Accounts

About the role

Saditra Soap & Detergent Industrial Trading PLC, an Ethiopian manufacturer of soap and detergents, is hiring a Section Head - General Accounts. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Addis Ababa, overseeing the general accounting function and reporting to management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger and supervise account reconciliations
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions
• Prepare periodic financial reports and support budgeting and forecasting
• Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations and internal policies
• Coordinate the accounting team, review journal entries and vouchers, and monitor cash and bank transactions
• Support internal and external audits
• Improve accounting processes, maintain internal controls and provide financial information to management

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional certification such as ACCA or CPA is an added advantage
• Relevant experience in general accounts or similar roles, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG
• Ability to work on-site in Addis Ababa, manage deadlines and collaborate across departments

Required skills

• General accounting: general ledger management, account reconciliation, financial reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting and cost control in a manufacturing or industrial setting
• Knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, regulatory requirements and accounting standards
• Accounting software and ERP systems, Microsoft Excel and other office tools
• Leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills, and clear written and verbal communication
