Compliance and Systems Director – Ethiopia

About the role

The Compliance and Systems Director (CSD) is a senior member of the Ethiopia country programme management team. Reporting to the Country Director, the CSD ensures that People in Need complies with all internal policies and external donor requirements while overseeing the core support functions that keep the programme running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance and oversight on the interpretation and implementation of donor contractual obligations and internal compliance procedures.
• Lead and improve the country’s logistic, procurement, finance and HR systems to ensure efficiency and alignment with compliance standards.
• Monitor and report on compliance risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Coordinate with programme teams to create an enabling environment for the delivery of humanitarian and development activities.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant regulations, donor policies and best practices in compliance and systems management.

Required profile

• Significant senior‑level experience in compliance, procurement, finance or HR within an international humanitarian or development organisation.
• Proven ability to interpret complex donor contracts and translate them into operational procedures.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder‑management skills, with experience supervising cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, coupled with effective communication skills.
