About the role

The Compliance and Systems Director (CSD) is a senior member of People in Need’s Ethiopia country programme, reporting to the Country Director. Based in Addis Ababa, the CSD ensures that all programme activities comply with donor requirements, internal policies, and local regulations while overseeing the systems that support logistics, procurement, finance, and human resources.

Key responsibilities

• Lead organisational compliance, interpreting and enforcing donor contractual obligations and internal procedures.
• Manage and improve support systems across logistics, procurement, finance, and HR to enable efficient programme delivery.
• Supervise heads of Finance, Operations, and HR, ensuring alignment with accountability standards.
• Coordinate with regional and headquarters functions, including the Regional Head of Systems and Operations.
• Develop and deliver capacity‑building programmes for staff across all departments.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in compliance, systems management, or programme operations within an international NGO or humanitarian context.
• Strong understanding of donor regulations, financial controls, and procurement standards.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams and ability to work with senior managers.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of compliance frameworks and donor reporting requirements.
• Experience with logistics, procurement, finance, and HR systems in a humanitarian setting.
