Country Director – Ethiopia

About the role

The Country Director leads International Medical Corps’ operations in Ethiopia, overseeing strategic planning, program design, implementation, and overall organizational performance. This senior position ensures alignment with global frameworks, donor requirements, and local needs while maintaining staff safety and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the country strategic plan, proposals and budgets in line with IMC’s global operational framework.
• Coordinate program design and delivery with headquarters and partners, ensuring timely, high‑quality implementation within budget.
• Lead donor relations, proposal development, and reporting to secure and manage funding streams.
• Oversee human resources, recruitment, staff safety, security risk assessments and incident management.
• Ensure compliance with agency policies, donor regulations, local laws and monitor M&E, reporting and accountability mechanisms.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development programs, preferably in health/medical sectors.
• Proven ability to manage large, multi‑disciplinary teams and complex budgets.
• Strong knowledge of donor funding mechanisms, UN coordination structures and local regulatory environments.
