Country Director – Ethiopia

About the role

The Country Director leads Right To Play’s Ethiopia office, providing strategic, programmatic and operational leadership to deliver high‑impact play‑based education and protection programmes for children and youth.

Key responsibilities

• Represent Right To Play with government, donors, UN agencies and NGOs, managing legal and governance risks.
• Lead fundraising, proposal development and donor engagement to secure diversified funding.
• Set and implement the country strategic plan, aligning with organisational priorities and national policies.
• Oversee programme delivery, monitoring, learning and innovation to ensure measurable impact.
• Provide financial oversight, budgeting, audit coordination and grant compliance.
• Manage staff recruitment, performance, learning and development while fostering a safe, inclusive culture.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in a large or medium international development organisation.
• Master’s degree in business administration, social sciences, development studies or related field.
• Proven success in mobilising new sources of programme funding.
• Experience managing programmes in both stable and fragile contexts.
• Strong understanding of legal, regulatory and safeguarding requirements.
