Infrastructure Officer – Temporary

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a temporary Infrastructure Officer to lead the technical design of playground infrastructure for the SUIDAC Project in Assosa City. The role focuses on producing complete design packages that meet safety standards and local conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare site layout, topographic surveys, grading and drainage plans, and equipment placement drawings.
• Develop safety and structural detail drawings, including fall‑zone plans, footing and anchor details, fencing, signage, and emergency escape plans.
• Produce detailed Bills of Quantities and technical specifications for civil works and playground equipment.
• Ensure all designs comply with national and international playground safety standards (e.g., EN 1176/1177).
• Coordinate with project management, procurement, and EH teams and submit deliverables in CAD/PDF formats on schedule.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience for diploma holders, 2 years for BSc, 1 year for MSc.
• Experience in humanitarian or NGO contexts is an asset.
• Fluent in English and Amharic; knowledge of local languages advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD / Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in SketchUp.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Ability to produce technical drawings, Bills of Quantities and specifications.
