National Consultant – Gender Statistics Assessment & Gap Identification

About the role

UN Women is seeking a National Consultant to lead an assessment of gender‑related statistics production, analysis, dissemination and use at both national and regional levels. The consultant will identify data gaps, evaluate existing statistical systems and propose actionable recommendations to strengthen gender‑responsive data collection and utilization.

Key responsibilities

• Review and map current gender statistics processes across relevant ministries and agencies.
• Analyse the quality, accessibility and relevance of existing gender‑disaggregated data.
• Identify gaps in data collection, analysis, dissemination and policy use.
• Develop a comprehensive report outlining findings, best practices and concrete recommendations for closing identified gaps.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations to validate findings and ensure alignment with national gender equality priorities.
• Support the integration of gender perspectives throughout the statistical cycle, from data collection to policy formulation.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in statistics, economics, gender studies, public policy or a related field.
• Proven experience conducting gender‑statistics assessments or similar analytical work at national or regional level.
• Strong understanding of gender‑responsive statistical frameworks and international standards.
• Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of gender‑disaggregated data collection and analysis methodologies.
• Familiarity with statistical software and data management tools.
• Experience drafting technical reports and policy briefs.
