Risk and Compliance Manager

About the role

The Risk and Compliance Manager will lead the development and implementation of risk management and compliance frameworks for Meftihe Microfinance. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures that the institution adheres to regulatory requirements while supporting sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design, monitor and update the risk management policy and compliance procedures.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, identify emerging risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian financial regulations, micro‑finance guidelines and internal policies.
• Prepare risk and compliance reports for the board and senior executives.
• Coordinate internal audits and liaise with external regulators.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on risk awareness and compliance matters.

Required profile

• BA/MA degree in Accounting, Management or a related field.
• 4‑6 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in senior risk or compliance positions.
• Strong understanding of micro‑finance operations and regulatory environment.
• Excellent analytical, communication and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Risk assessment and mitigation techniques.
• Compliance monitoring and reporting.
• Knowledge of Ethiopian financial legislation.
• Ability to develop policies and train staff.
