Senior Project Associate (Engineering) – Affiliated Contractor

About the role

The Senior Project Associate (Engineering) will support IOM Ethiopia’s Protection Unit in delivering Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programmes. Working closely with government authorities, partners and Migration Response Centres, the role ensures safe, dignified return and comprehensive reintegration assistance for migrants.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing and monitoring AVRR activities across Ethiopia.
• Coordinate with government counterparts, service providers and NGOs to deliver economic, social and psychosocial support to returnees.
• Support the development of sustainable livelihood opportunities and community‑based reintegration approaches.
• Strengthen national capacities for protection‑sensitive programming and monitor compliance with UN migration standards.
• Contribute to data collection, reporting and analysis for programme performance and impact.
• Provide technical input to Migration Response Centres on protection and assistance delivery.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in engineering, social sciences, development studies or a related field.
• Several years of experience in project management within humanitarian, migration or development contexts.
• Familiarity with AVRR processes, protection principles and reintegration programmes.
• Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies and NGOs.
• Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
