Senior SME Non-Financial Services Officer

About the role

The Senior SME Non-Financial Services Officer will join Awash Bank’s Addis Ababa team to provide strategic support and advisory services to small and medium enterprises operating in the non‑financial services sector. The role focuses on assessing SME needs, delivering financial education and identifying growth‑enabling solutions while promoting financial inclusion.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the requirements of SMEs in the non‑financial services sector and propose tailored solutions.
• Deliver financial education and business development advice to strengthen SME operations.
• Collaborate with internal bank teams and external partners to design inclusive financing initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with SME clients to ensure sustainable growth.
• Monitor and report on SME performance and contribution to the national economy.

Required profile

• Expertise in credit unions and financial services with a solid understanding of SME operations.
• Strong knowledge of finance, including credit analysis and business development advisory.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills for effective client engagement.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Experience in banking or SME financial services is highly preferable.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
