SHEQ Supervisor for Mining Operations

About the role

The SHEQ Supervisor will coordinate Safety, Health, Environment and Quality compliance for high‑risk surface mining activities in the Benishangul‑Gumuz region, acting as the link between SHEQ Officers and the SHEQ Superintendent.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor safety compliance and conduct field inspections for drilling, blasting, excavation, loading and maintenance activities.
• Audit and enforce LOTOTO procedures, oversee high‑risk tasks such as hot work, lifting, confined space entry and tyre management.
• Manage environmental controls including hydrocarbon storage, waste handling, dust suppression and spill response.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, JSAs and TRAs to support ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 systems.
• Lead incident investigations using ICAM and 5‑Why methods and track corrective actions.
• Facilitate safety meetings, maintain SHEQ documentation and prepare regular performance reports.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Mining or Mechanical Engineering.
• NEBOSH IGC, SAMTRAC, OSHA or equivalent safety certification; internal auditor certification preferred.
• 3‑5 years of SHEQ supervision in open‑pit mining, with experience in heavy mobile equipment operations.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to work in a rotational, remote mining environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 management systems.
• Proficiency with LOTOTO procedures and critical risk controls.
• Experience using ICAM incident investigation methodology.
• Familiarity with environmental management, spill response and waste handling.
• Competent in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
