Steel Trader – Sales & Distribution of Carbon Steel Products

About the role

We are a leading international steel trading company seeking an experienced Steel Trader to lead sales and distribution of carbon steel products across the Ethiopian market. The role is ideal for commercially driven professionals with a strong network of local steel buyers and the ability to turn relationships into revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute sales strategies to expand our presence in Ethiopia.
• Promote and sell carbon steel products such as billets, rebar, hot‑rolled coils (HRC), cold‑rolled coils (CRC) and other items sourced from Chinese and Southeast Asian mills.
• Identify, develop and maintain relationships with distributors, manufacturers, contractors and key customers.
• Leverage existing client contacts to generate immediate business opportunities.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and supply agreements.
• Coordinate order processing, import logistics and timely delivery with internal teams.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, pricing and customer demand.
• Prepare sales reports, forecasts and market intelligence.
• Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets and agreed KPIs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in steel trading, preferably carbon steel.
• Proven track record of meeting sales targets and generating revenue.
• Existing portfolio of customers or strong relationships within the Ethiopian steel market.
• Understanding of international steel trading, import operations and supply chain processes.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel within Ethiopia to meet clients.
