Communications and Advocacy Officer

About the role

The Communications and Advocacy Officer will lead the development and implementation of communication, visibility and advocacy strategies for an education and skills programme in Ethiopia, ensuring consistent messaging and strong public engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute communication, visibility and advocacy strategies for the programme.
• Produce high‑quality content and manage internal and external communications.
• Strengthen media and stakeholder relations and lead advocacy initiatives.
• Collaborate with consortium partners, the Programme Manager and PMU Communications Adviser to disseminate key messages.
• Promote policy dialogue and influence change to support education outcomes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
• Significant experience in strategic communications, media engagement and public relations.
• Proven experience leading digital communication strategies and managing organisational branding.
• Experience working on donor‑funded programmes in the international development sector.
• Advocacy communications and policy‑influencing experience, ideally in education.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of digital communication tools, platforms and trends.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage media relationships.
