Compliance and Systems Director – Ethiopia

About the role

The Compliance and Systems Director will join the senior management team of People in Need’s Ethiopia programme, based in Addis Ababa. Reporting to the Country Director, the role ensures that all programme activities comply with donor requirements, internal policies and local regulations while overseeing the core support functions of logistics, procurement, finance and human resources.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance and oversight on the interpretation and implementation of donor contracts and internal compliance procedures.
• Lead and coordinate the Logistics, Procurement, Finance and HR teams to ensure efficient, accountable operations.
• Develop, monitor and improve systems and processes that support programme delivery and reporting.
• Conduct regular compliance audits, risk assessments and corrective action plans.
• Support capacity building for staff across departments on compliance and systems best practices.
• Represent the country office in regional and headquarters meetings on compliance and operational matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in compliance, finance, procurement or operations within an international NGO or humanitarian organization.
• Proven track record of managing multi‑disciplinary support functions in a complex, donor‑driven environment.
• Strong understanding of donor regulations, procurement standards and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of donor compliance frameworks (e.g., EU, US, UN).
• Experience with integrated logistics, procurement and finance systems.
• Ability to design and implement operational policies and procedures.
