About the role

Marriott Executive Apartments is hiring a Demi-Chef Pastry in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role covers preparing and presenting food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and supporting the kitchen team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food prep checklists.
• Portion, chop and store ingredients, and create decorative food displays with proper portion, arrangement and garnish.
• Monitor the quantity of food prepared and inform Food & Beverage staff of menu specials and out-of-stock items.
• Prepare special meals or substitute items and assist cooks and kitchen staff.
• Monitor kitchen supply stock and maintain kitchen logs for the food safety program.
• Use baking and measuring equipment safely, and check appliance and food temperatures, reporting issues to management.
• Wash and disinfect the kitchen, set up and break down workstations, and comply with sanitation and cleaning procedures.
• Follow food safety handling policies, company safety and security procedures, and complete required safety training and certifications.

Required profile

• Preferred: Level III education in Food Preparation or a related field.
• Preferred: at least 2 years of related work experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Able to move objects up to 25 pounds, work on uneven surfaces, reach overhead and below the knees, and stand, sit or walk for long periods.
