Diversity and Outreach Internship

About the role

The Diversity and Outreach Internship supports the Recruitment Services Unit of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in promoting inclusive hiring practices. Working on‑site in Addis Ababa, the intern will help identify and engage networks representing persons with disabilities and other under‑represented groups.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and map platforms, organizations, and networks for inclusive outreach.
• Draft accessible outreach messages to advertise ECA job openings and internships.
• Maintain outreach contact lists and activity trackers.
• Conduct desk research on inclusive recruitment practices within the UN system and similar bodies.
• Assist in creating knowledge products such as fact sheets and case studies on diversity outreach.
• Compile recommendations for accessible work environments and assistive technologies.
• Support planning and organization of outreach events, webinars, and awareness campaigns.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
• Strong interest in diversity, inclusion, and human‑resources practices.
