Economic Programming and Private Business Partnerships Advisor

About the role

The Economic Programming and Private Business Partnerships Advisor will shape and strengthen People in Need Ethiopia’s economic and private‑business programming portfolio. Reporting to the Deputy Country Director, the role combines strategic oversight, programme delivery support for the EU Empower project, partnership development and external positioning.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously scan Ethiopia’s economic landscape to identify emerging sectors, opportunities and partnership potential aligned with the Country Programme’s strategic priorities.
• Develop and refine the Country Programme’s approach to economic programming, ensuring interventions are grounded in market realities and positioned for sustainable impact.
• Lead structured market and sector assessments and translate findings into actionable strategic directions, programme adaptations and new initiatives.
• Facilitate access to finance for target groups and market actors by brokering relationships with banks, micro‑finance institutions and impact investors to develop tailored financial products.
• Lead business engagement and strategic partnership activities to expand private‑sector involvement in programme activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in economic programming, market‑systems analysis and private‑sector partnership development.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and develop new opportunities in emerging sectors.
• Experience working with donor‑funded projects and coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including public institutions and local organisations.
• Strong analytical skills to lead market assessments and translate findings into programme design.
