Medical Business Development & Marketing Intern

About the role

Alephtav Consultancy & Trading PLC, an Addis Ababa-based firm offering digital health, institutional advisory, training and implementation services to the health sector, is looking for a Medical Business Development and Marketing intern. The intern helps turn health-sector needs into qualified commercial opportunities for the company's services. The role reports to the Operations & Commerce / BD Lead, is office-based in Addis Ababa with approved field visits, and is a commercial execution role rather than a social-media assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Map and segment hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, training institutions, professional associations, NGOs and other health-sector organizations, researching their needs, priorities and decision pathways.
• Prepare account briefs, stakeholder profiles and discovery questions, and help document clinical, operational and management pain points.
• Identify and qualify leads, arrange meetings and product demonstrations, prepare meeting briefs and record follow-up commitments in the CRM.
• Translate needs into service propositions such as hospital systems, EMR implementation, professional learning, strategic advisory and performance-management solutions, verified with technical leads.
• Develop sector-specific messages, outreach material, presentations, campaigns and case-study drafts for clinical leaders, administrators, partners and purchasers.
• Assist with concept notes, expressions of interest, market scans, bid intelligence, scope inputs, partner mapping and meeting preparation.
• Maintain a lead-to-opportunity tracker, report meetings, qualification status, next steps, conversion barriers and lessons learned.
• Respect confidentiality and approval processes, avoid unsupported clinical or performance claims, give no medical advice and do not access patient data without authorization.

Required profile

• Final-year student or recent graduate in Medicine, Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, Health Informatics, Biomedical Sciences, Health Management or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with clinical service delivery, health-facility operations or public-health institutions.
• Strong professional writing in English, confident interpersonal communication and ability to synthesize information into briefs; Amharic fluency is highly valued.
• Commercial orientation: able to approach stakeholders professionally, ask discovery questions and turn conversations into tracked next steps.
• Advantageous but not required: clinical exposure, health-tech projects, student leadership, marketing, sales, proposal writing or health-related volunteering.
