Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Associate – Gambella

About the role

The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Associate will be based in Gambella, Ethiopia, supporting the MEL Manager in Ethiopia. The role involves leading data collection activities, ensuring data quality, and supporting field teams across multiple project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead local data collection and perform data quality assurance, including back‑checks, spot checks and data cleaning.
• Coordinate surveys, focus group discussions and other data‑gathering activities with program and MEL teams.
• Update and monitor project monitoring plans and indicator tracking.
• Translate data collection tools into local languages and test survey materials.
• Recruit, train, supervise and support enumerators and field staff on tools such as Kobo and SurveyCTO.
• Provide feedback to the data team on tool design and data collection processes.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and field teams.
• Ability to travel frequently within the Gambella region.
• Experience working in development or humanitarian contexts is preferred.
