Paint Workshop Foreman

About the role

Elmi Olindo Contractors is looking for a qualified, experienced and responsible Paint Workshop Foreman to supervise and coordinate daily painting operations, manage workshop personnel, ensure product quality and control material consumption. The postholder must make sure all painting work is done efficiently, safely and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily painting activities and workshop operations, and assign duties to painters and other employees while monitoring their performance.
• Plan and organise painting jobs according to production schedules and project requirements.
• Ensure proper surface preparation, including cleaning, sanding, filling and priming.
• Oversee paint mixing, colour matching, spray painting, brush painting and other finishing processes.
• Inspect painted surfaces for quality, uniformity and proper coverage, and ensure defects are corrected before delivery.
• Monitor the use of paints, thinners and solvents to minimise waste and control costs, and handle, store and inventory materials and equipment.
• Maintain tools such as spray guns and compressors, enforce safety procedures including PPE and chemical handling, and keep the workshop clean and orderly.
• Coordinate with other departments and prepare work progress reports for the department head.

Required profile

• TVET/Level III or above in Painting Technology, Industrial Painting, Surface Finishing or a related field is preferred.
• At least three years of relevant experience in painting operations, including workshop supervision or team leadership.
• Good understanding of surface preparation, paint application, paint mixing, colour matching, finishing techniques and quality control.
• Familiarity with spray-painting equipment, compressors and other painting tools.
• Ability to supervise staff, manage material stock and follow occupational health and safety practices.
