Textile Dyeing Chemist

About the role

Rad Best Trading PLC is hiring a full-time, on-site Textile Dyeing Chemist based in Addis Ababa. The chemist develops and optimizes dyeing processes for various textile materials, selects appropriate dyes and chemicals, and runs lab-scale and bulk production trials. The role works closely with production, quality and R&D teams to introduce new products, improve efficiency and meet safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize dyeing processes for different textile materials
• Select suitable dyes and chemicals and run lab-scale and bulk production trials
• Monitor dyeing operations, perform color matching and ensure consistent shade, fastness and fabric quality
• Test and analyze dye formulations and implement quality control procedures
• Troubleshoot process issues and document results and recommendations
• Collaborate with production, quality and R&D teams on new products and process improvements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Textile Engineering or a related field
• Quality control experience ensuring color consistency and adherence to standards
• Research and development capability for new dye formulations and process improvements
• Knowledge of textile fibers, dyes, auxiliaries and dyeing machinery, including eco-friendly practices
• Attention to detail, strong documentation skills and teamwork across functions
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental regulations in chemical handling

Required skills

• Laboratory skills: safe handling of chemicals, preparation of dye solutions, use of textile testing equipment
• Analytical skills: data interpretation, problem solving and process optimization
