Protection Assistant – Community Based Protection

About the role

The Protection Assistant – Community Based Protection (CBP) will support the implementation of community‑based protection activities in the Humera and Maikadra areas. Working under the line management of the ERM and technical supervision of the Protection Specialist CBP, the role focuses on strengthening protection networks, delivering training and providing technical support to community structures.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct stakeholder mapping and identify existing community‑based structures.
• Establish or strengthen Community‑Based Protection Networks (CBPNs) and Focal Points (CBP‑FPs).
• Facilitate and deliver capacity‑building training for CBPN/CBP‑FP members.
• Provide technical support for community protection analysis and the development of action plans.
• Ensure compliance with DRC’s protection programming guidance, standards and principles.
• Support CBPNs in implementing action plans through regular follow‑up, mentoring and monitoring.
• Utilize dedicated tools for program implementation and coordinate with local authorities and other stakeholders.
• Raise community awareness on protection risks and mitigation strategies.
• Maintain relationships with CBPNs and stakeholders to promote sustainability and self‑protection.

Required profile

• Experience in community‑based protection or humanitarian programmes.
• Ability to conduct stakeholder mapping, training facilitation and protection analysis.
• Understanding of protection principles and DRC programming guidance.
• Capacity to work under supervision of a Protection Specialist and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Fluency in English and ability to work respectfully within local cultural contexts.
