Protection Assistant – Monitoring

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Assistant – Monitoring to support protection monitoring activities in Humera, Maikadra and surrounding areas. Working under the Protection Team Leader and the Protection Specialist – Monitoring, you will conduct field visits, collect and encode data, and help identify individuals at risk.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular protection monitoring visits in assigned areas.
• Collect, encode, and upload data using DRC’s protection monitoring tools and standards.
• Identify protection trends through key informant interviews, focus groups and observations.
• Refer individuals at risk to specialized assistance and track referral outcomes.
• Collaborate with Community Based Protection Networks to raise awareness and gather displacement information.
• Ensure data collection follows protection information management and data‑protection SOPs.
• Participate in trainings on protection information management and related topics.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in protection monitoring or humanitarian field work.
• Ability to conduct interviews, focus groups and community outreach in a culturally appropriate manner.
• Strong understanding of protection principles and ethical data‑collection practices.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Data collection and entry using protection monitoring systems.
• Protection Information Management (PIM) procedures.
