Protection Team Leader

About the role

The Protection Team Leader will report to the Emergency Response Manager and ensure high‑quality, efficient implementation of protection activities in Debark, Ethiopia. The role involves planning, coordinating and supervising field interventions, including GBV case management, psychosocial support and community‑based protection, while aligning with donor requirements and humanitarian principles.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with national and international protection standards.
• Oversee monthly protection reporting and the operation of information hubs for referrals and assistance.
• Lead or contribute to multisectoral assessments, service mapping and the development of referral pathways.
• Produce and disseminate awareness‑raising material for protection teams and partners.
• Design and deliver training on protection, referrals, PFA, peace‑building and related topics.
• Conduct protection needs and conflict‑sensitivity assessments.
• Support program design, proposal development and gender‑sensitive mainstreaming.
• Promote social cohesion, conflict resolution and community resilience.
• Coordinate monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL) activities, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian protection programming, including GBV case management and psychosocial support.
• Strong knowledge of national and international protection standards and gender‑inclusive approaches.
• Experience in conducting assessments, service mapping and developing referral systems.
• Ability to lead teams, coordinate with government authorities, local stakeholders and partners.
• Experience in monitoring, evaluation and reporting against protection indicators.
