Risk Analyst

About the role

The Risk Analyst will monitor and mitigate operational, financial, regulatory, and reputational risks for a global fintech platform. Working remotely, you will analyze large datasets to uncover fraud patterns, design detection models, and support cross‑functional teams in building robust risk controls.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously monitor platform data to detect emerging threats such as payment fraud, account takeovers, spam, phishing, and synthetic identity networks.
• Query massive datasets using SQL and Python (or R) to identify attack vectors and quantify abuse impact.
• Design and implement rules, machine‑learning models, and automated workflows that prevent high‑risk activity while preserving user experience.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Finance, and Legal to embed risk controls throughout the product lifecycle and ensure compliance with AML, KYC, GDPR, and PSD2.
• Act as a primary responder during large‑scale fraud spikes, making rapid decisions to contain losses.
• Build dashboards and reports to track key risk indicators and evaluate mitigation effectiveness.
• Provide feedback on internal risk tools and help integrate third‑party threat intelligence services.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in risk analysis, fraud intelligence, trust & safety, or financial crime investigations within tech, e‑commerce, or fintech.
• Proven ability to translate raw, messy data into actionable insights.
• Strong communication skills to present technical findings to non‑technical stakeholders, including executives and legal teams.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment and leading initiatives.
