Senior Tax Accountant

About the role

Safaricom Ethiopia is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to lead tax compliance and reporting across the organization. The role will ensure that tax obligations are met efficiently while supporting the company’s rapid growth and digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full compliance with Ethiopian tax laws and internal tax controls.
• Develop, implement, and monitor tax procedures and processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Prepare and coordinate the annual statutory audit and any ad‑hoc tax audits.
• Compile and file all required tax returns, payments, and disclosures accurately and on time.
• Liaise with tax authorities, respond to inquiries, and manage tax-related correspondence.
• Track changes in tax legislation and advise business units on potential impacts.
• Maintain accurate tax records and documentation for audit readiness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or CTA preferred.
• Extensive experience in tax accounting, preferably in a large corporate environment.
• Deep knowledge of Ethiopian tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across functions.
