Carbon Pricing Senior Officer

About the role

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is seeking a senior professional to lead the Ethiopia Article 6 Readiness Project. Based in Addis Ababa, the officer will drive the implementation of the country’s carbon market framework and support the government in meeting Article 6 requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution and monitoring of all Ethiopia Readiness Project activities.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical and strategic guidance to ensure high‑quality, timely delivery.
• Coordinate closely with the GGGI Ethiopia Country Representative, the Regional Director and other internal teams.
• Act as the primary liaison with Ethiopian government agencies, donors and partners.
• Develop and oversee the creation of Mitigation Activity Idea Notes (MAINs) and related policy documents.
• Track project milestones, budgets and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in international carbon markets or climate finance, preferably with exposure to Article 6 mechanisms.
• Strong ability to quickly acquire and apply technical knowledge on carbon market frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi‑stakeholder projects in developing‑country contexts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
