Economic Recovery Officer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking an Economic Recovery Officer to lead the implementation of its economic recovery programme in Assosa, Ethiopia. Working under the Program Manager, you will support vulnerable communities to rebuild livelihoods through savings groups, income‑generating activities and access to finance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for planning, coordination and delivery of economic recovery interventions.
• Lead the expansion and sustainability of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), including mentor training and ongoing support.
• Facilitate the design, implementation and monitoring of income‑generating activities (IGAs) and promote integration with VSLA strategies.
• Deliver integrated training packages on financial inclusion, market linkages and climate‑smart agriculture.
• Analyse local market systems, identify barriers and design interventions that promote inclusive growth and resilience.
• Coordinate with DRC teams, consortium partners, government agencies, UN bodies, NGOs and private‑sector actors to ensure programme alignment and advocacy.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in food security, livelihood programmes, cash‑based transfers and on/off‑farm economic recovery.
• Experience with graduation models, youth employment schemes, financial inclusion and climate‑smart agriculture.
• Ability to work gender‑sensitive, conflict‑aware and protection‑focused while upholding DRC values.
• Strong collaboration skills with NGOs, government and private‑sector stakeholders.
